On December 10, 2008, thousands of human rights supporters across the globe took part in actions to bring awareness and celebration to the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which was written and ratified by the United Nations shortly after World War II.

On July 12th, 2008, communities in countries throughout the world gathered in celebration and in solidarity around the idea that every human being has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.

In London, Mexico City, Athens, New Delhi, Seoul and two dozen other cities, artists, activists and supporters of Amnesty International “Circled Up” to form more than 24 aerial art images in 24 hours.

Amnesty International teamed up with Circle Up Now to deliver this powerful “visual petition” representing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2008, and consisted of thousands of participants worldwide making an appeal to their leaders to honor and defend basic human rights.

On November 2, 2008, Amnesty International and Circle Up Now teamed up once again, this time to produce an historic tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

On the Mississippi riverfront of Memphis, Amnesty International and its supporters united to honor Dr. King and other local civil rights heroes by forming into a human aerial art image depicting Dr. King’s likeness along with the words, “Keep the Dream Alive”.

Ladakh, like more and more places around the globe, is already facing real challenges in face of climate change — unpredictable weather, floods, and the prospects of diminished water supply from glacial melt. 

The Ladakh 350 climate change festival was organized by Will Wickham, a study abroad student from the USA and the Ladakh Young Buddhist Association.
